Start with a readable face
Choose a photo where the eyes, nose, jawline, and hairline are visible. Natural window light is usually easier to work with than a dark party photo or a strong beauty filter.
Use more variety only when it helps
One strong reference per person is enough to start. Add a second angle when it clarifies the face, not simply because more files feel safer.
- Front or three-quarter angle
- Minimal motion blur
- No sunglasses or hands covering the face
- A recent appearance when the final portrait needs to feel current
For couples, keep the people distinct
Two independent photos are supported. Clear separate faces can be easier to interpret than a crowded group photo, especially when the couple has different lighting or camera angles.
